Your data, your device
Local-first by design
FolioTree stores your family-tree data in local storage on your phone or browser. Normal use does not require a FolioTree account or a FolioTree-hosted copy of your genealogy.
- On your device — people, relationships, media, and notes stay under your control in the app or browser storage.
- Portable — GEDCOM import/export and FolioTree backup files help you move or safeguard your work.
- Your responsibility — clearing app data, uninstalling, or switching devices can remove local data unless you keep backups or exports.

FolioTree is free to use today. A paid FolioTree Premium tier is planned as a one-off purchase (not a subscription). Premium is not available to buy yet — production apps currently run on the Free tier until billing is implemented.
